Mock Defense

Our mock defense is already this February 5-6, 2007. This mock defense is in preparation for the final defense to be held in the Conference Hall, where all year levels are going to witness. We are the 6th presentor in section Gonzalez, and there are only 8 groups. This may mean we are going to present on the second day.
This is not the first time for me to have a research defense but still I am scared of the activity. I am scared of the panelists and the findings of our study itself. I am the leader of the group so more pressure is on me. I fear to put my groupmates down on what the outcome of our defense will be. But Ms. Rodel always says that having the defense would be fun and the feeling after having it would be fulfilling. She said that there is nothing to worry about the panelists for as long as we know our studies well. My groupmates and I personally conducted our study so we hope that everything will be fine on the mock and the real defense.
As I have stated, I am the leader. And because of this, I also gave my groupmates their respective roles. I assigned Jann to be the assistant leader because she is also good in leading the group as she shows in her UPSTAGE club. She is also our dramafest directress. Aiko has always been the secretary in UP. She has a good handwriting and can keep papers well. So, I assigned her to be the group’s secretary. I see Daisy financially ahead among the four of us. She has the resources at home. She can easily access to computers, CD’s and other stuff. So, she is the group’s treasurer. She keeps all the soft copy of our research. I am blessed with the members I have in the group. All really do what is being tasked.
Now, what have we done in preparation of the final defense?
I am afraid to lose some of the data of our research. Because of this, I gave each of the group’s members a diskette, which I always update on the latest changes about our research. This really helped in making our research paper easy to make. We just assign one person to work on a specific part of the research and save this on the diskettes to all can be updated. We just use diskettes because not all have internet access at home. For the defense, we assigned one person for one chapter because there are four chapters as well.
The Science Week is really fast approaching; we just hope that everything goes fine in our group as well as all other groups.
Having this group research project is fun. Because of this I got to know my groupmates well. It also made me a better individual, being able to lead a group and manage activities and tasks. Having this kind of subject would also help us in college education because as what many people have said, there are more like these in college.
