Prom Preps (pre-prom)

JS Prom ’07 is already fast approaching. It is already scheduled this coming Friday, February 9, 2007 at the Arctic Hall of the Waterfront hotel. I am not really that excited because it is already my second time. The Prom is the time wherein the seniors leave a legacy to the juniors as they leave the school when they graduate. It is a time to tie knots of friendship. It is also a time wherein we, students experience being young gentlemen and ladies. It is a formal event so we have to dress and act descent too. In the classroom, some of my classmates are already talking about what they are going to wear. Some even have the same place to rent to. Yesterday was a Saturday and it is scheduled for our mentoring program at Hipodromo. But my mother said that the day should be spent securing for what I shall wear for the Prom. So I had my first absence in the mentoring program. Around 10:00 AM, we left the house and went to Colon to look for stores who offer coat renting. We got very exhausted that time! We only found the right coat for me at the 4th store we came in! But I also had fun because there were also many students renting for gowns and coats that day. One store attendant said that it is because other schools are also having their Prom on February 9. We ate lunch at Dimsum. After eating, my mother went to a nearby store to buy a medicine. She was very lucky to find the medicine she is looking for because she already went to so many drugstores and not even one has it!We then went home riding a taxi because our car was brought to a shop because as always, some of its parts are again broken or something.Today, we are planning to go to SM to buy a polo that would be worn as inner of the coat after hearing mass. I hope to easily see the right polo for me.Having a prom is really expensive. We had to pay 750 each for the hotel accommodation. We also have to rent or even buy what clothes we are going to wear. But I find having a prom essential to high school life. As I have stated a while ago, it is a time to tie knots of friendship. It is a time to mend broken relationships that maybe caused by misunderstandings last intramurals. It is a time wherein the seniors give the juniors the responsibility of taking care of the school because they are going to be the eldest among the high school students the following year. It is also a time for us to remember our proper manners and act gently for one night. This maybe useful in the future where we can meet a lot of people and dine in a formal restaurant or hotel.Some time after the prom, we are also planning to have a grad ball. It is my first time to experience such so I hope that it would be another fun and exciting event!
